The Client

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is an American Pharmaceutical company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1989, Vertex was one of the first biotech firms to use an explicit strategy of rational drug design rather than combinatorial chemistry.

The Execution

The SullyMac team worked closely with key MEP trades and the design team to develop systems and systems integration, and coordinated with the owner’s process equipment manufacturer to identify and develop power and control requirements. The team completed 3D modeling of a unique multi-story continuous process pharmaceutical equipment rig that was simultaneously being manufactured overseas. The team provided constant budgeting feedback on developing scopes so the agreed-to budgets could be protected. The team ensured on time delivery of the final product to meet an aggressive schedule. The Continuous Process Rig (CPR) is the only of its kind in the world to assemble the pieces and operate as a continuous process. The team was required to interface and coordinate electrical requirements directly with the project electrical engineers and architect, and keep detailed, itemized scheduling meetings to track and identify equipment and installation lead time to ensure project execution.
